Thanksgiving 2011 will be on November 24. In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of every November.

You may not know it but the implementation of the annual Thanksgiving Day could be credited much to Mrs. Sarah Joseph Hale, the editor of Godey’s Lady’s Book.

Mrs. Hale sponsored the idea of a national Thanksgiving Day and was very patient in endorsing it to every President in the U.S. until President Lincoln finally adopted it in 1863.

Now, what does this celebration got to do with the recent update of the Google Algorithm?

Last November 2, 2011, Google made another update on its algorithm. This move by Google puts more weight on real time results or freshness of the content.

If you may recall sometime in 2009 Google met with Twitter to forge a deal on the search giant’s access to real time tweets, so it can be displayed in the giant’s search results.

This update by Google somewhat displaces the long standing SEO mantra “authority and relevance.” The freshness update would mean that hot topics and breaking news would be given top priority in the search results. Also, recurring events, stock market news and sports games would be up there.

So how can you exploit this freshness update?

Well, you can ride the wave of fresh content by looking up what’s hot there. Go to Google Trends and see what most people are looking. Visit Twitter trends to see what people are tweeting.

You can then write about the topic and relate it to your blog. The good thing about this is that you will have a wider audience, actually new visitors coming from Google. Well, this may be a short term tactic but hey, if you know how to capture their attention then this is a plus plus to your customer list. Also, if they like your article, they could link to it.

Now what about the Thanksgiving 2011? Is it about Turkey recipes? Sshh… it’s a test on Google freshness.

Here’s one tip on how to be first in Google search results. If you can duplicate this practice, tons of your pages will, most likely, get to the top of Google.

It is common understanding among search engine experts that what Google wants now is a website that is not only relevant to the search but also focused on answering specific needs of the searcher.

A friendly website they say.

But what is a friendly website? Some answers may come to your mind like; easy to navigate or move around. (Yeah, it’s quite frustrating when there are too many links in the page, too many columns and most of all too many ads)

A friendly website also has focused and specific information on a specific question that the searcher is looking for. Say, “is krill oil good for the heart?” and not a discussion of the different kinds of oils.

What specific fruits have a high glycemic index and may not be eaten by persons suffering diabetes? If your website happens to answer to these specific type of questions, then Google love is not far behind.

Well, I only had a few links to my pages adwords techniques and profitable markets but they are some of my most visited pages in this blog. Why? Because they answer specific needs of the searchers.

To be first in Google search results means that your site is fixed on providing solutions to people’s needs and problems.

That is why the regurgitated articles at ezinearticles.com got slapped. Many of these articles came from what we call the article milling machine.

Okay? So, how to be first in Google requires that you always keep in mind that what Google wants is a site that is easy to navigate and focused on answering specific needs.

About five years ago website traffic came only from a few sources. Well, five years of internet time would equal to half a century of our normal years, huh? Think of dog-years.

That was long long ago. And back then you have article directories, traffic exchanges, content aggregators, online advertising and of course the mother lode, the search engines.

Based on my experience, most of the quality leads then came from the search engines, followed by those that came from the online ads. That is why most of the marketers then were going gaga over search engine optimization. They want their sites on the first page of the search engine results.

It’s 2011 and the web has significantly shifted. In fact Chris Anderson of Wired said that the Web is dead. Whatever he means by that. But fact is, in terms of traffic, some of your useful sources then had dried up.

Think of ezinearticles.com, it was a spring that continuously poured out visitor after visitor to the websites of article marketers. But after Google squeezed and plugged the cracks of the article directories, the traffic of thousands of websites went downhill.

Online advertising went expensive and the affiliate commissions could no longer be justified by the pricey cost per click.

Now, what have you got there? Any new sources of traffic? In my next post, I will detail some sources of traffic which are great sources of your leads.

@adwords techniques

Have you noticed in your effort to rank high on Google, your hard pumping of backlinks would no longer get you to the top of Google for your selected keyword? Well, the reason is that Google have again recalibrated their algorithms.

It used to be that the formula was simple, the classic SEO formula: optimize your website then pour truckloads of incoming anchor text links to it. Then bingo!

I’ve looked through this latest algorithm, Caffeine and Panda/Farmer combined and came up with this Google formula:

Blog Content + Incoming Links + Blog Activity = High Rank

Blog Content
Make sure your blog does not have the crappy junky content. Google has purged its search results and has pushed down to the dregs sites that contain recycled, duplicate articles and PLRs. Even major sites like ezinearticles.com and the New York Times owned about.com were also slapped by this Google change. Still, original articles count best.

Incoming links
Well, since the disenfranchisement of the article directories, with the granddaddy ezinearticles.com leading the pack, followed by findarticles.com, and dozens of directories, it’s safe to say that submitting articles to these sites will not work anymore. Article marketing to drive traffic still works but not as SEO strategy.

Your articles could better be used at squidoo.com since this site is one of the biggest gainers in this Google Panda update. Since Google slapped the sites with crappy, spammy contents, then it follows that you have to avoid getting your backlinks from there.

Blog Activity
Consider this, how can a website with 5,000-10,000 backlinks not have visitors? Huh? There is a mystery. And Google knows this. It’s not blind. In fact it has plenty of eyes. It has analytics which tracks site visits, it has feedburner, it owns Google reader. In short, Google knows if your site has real visitors. So sites with real visitors get a thumbs up from Google.

Remember this formula to rank high on Google’s latest update.

The Branding Page. This is where you show to your visitors what you know. This is where they get to know your credentials, what you have accomplished and what you can do to help them. You can post some customer testimonials in this page. Share what you know to your visitors by posting some articles. Help them solve their problems through the articles. Share some stories of people or companies you have helped.

The Salesletter. After getting a grip of who you are through the branding page, your readers may be interested in the product or service you are offering. You can drive them to your salesletter. If you don’t know salescopy, have some professional copywriter do your salesletter.

The Squeeze Page. I think it was Jonathan Mizel who coined this name. Some call them lead capture page. Now, of the 3 pages I have mentioned, this could be the most powerful. Why? This is where you collect customer information. Once you have their names and addresses, you can build up relationships with your subscribers and recommend them your products, services or even related offers from other sellers, some call them affiliate programs. You need an autoresponder for this. You have to know email marketing to fully utilize your autoresponder. You also need a giveaway to entice them to sign up.

There’s a cool way of repurposing your content, squeezing it up to maximize its use.

Well, there are a couple of reasons for repurposing.

One is when you’ve run out of creative juices -when you just can’t articulate the right words to produce that article.

The other reason is deliberate. You repurpose the content to expand your inventory of traffic sources.

Your written article can only be posted in article directories and blogs. How about reading your article and convert it to an mp3 file, upload it to iTunes and other music uploading sites?

How about adding some slides and make it a video file? There are dozens of video sites. But the better ones are tubemogul, traffic geyser and of course youtube.

How about reformatting to powerpoint? There’s <a href="http://www.slideshare.net target="_blank" rel="nofollow">slideshare.

Why not post snippets of the article in your facebook and twitter accounts?

Now tell me if after doing the above you would not experience a spike in your traffic.

According to Outsell Inc., a research and advisory firm focused on the publishing and information business, the information industry will reach US$448 Billion by the end of 2010.

That would be an amazing growth of US$106 Billion from just US$342 Billion gross in 2005.

The pie is so huge that it is drawing so many investors and entrepreneurs.

But here are some of the reasons why marketing information products could be the right business for you:

1.Low start-up cost. How much, do you think, would it cost to you to get started in an offline business? Say a coffee shop, US$20K? US$30K? Now consider setting up an online business which sells information, it could be in the form of audio, video or ebooks. How much would it take to set this up? $3K, maybe $4K to include the HD camera, PC and video editing software.

2.Long-term residual value. Or better understood create once profit many times. Think of books which the author writes only once. The time it gets into the shelves of bookstores or at Amazon, the author just waits and collect the royalties when somebody buys the book. It’s also true with audio and video products. You’ll record only once, upload it to your server, and profit every time somebody downloads it.

3.Very high profit. Can you think of an offline business whose profit margin runs from 85% – 95%? I wonder. And that’s one great reason to be in the information business.

4.Low risk. In terms of start-up costs, information marketing is extremely low. If you are to test the market, you can throw in an adwords account and spend a few hundred dollars to see if your product would have some interested buyers.

5.You can do it from home. And at anytime you like. Imagine the freedom your information business brings.

There are more reasons which would make the information marketing business more compelling but I find the 5 above enough to push you to start.

Repurposing and profiting from your old content.

Did the Laziness Bug bit you lately? Oh, if you have been writing and publishing content for quite sometime, chances are, you have already bumped into this bug.

Once this bug bits you, you can’t lift a finger to fire your keyboard. Writing becomes a bore and your creative power seems to melt.

It’s okay to just wait. But what if you need to produce some stuff to sell? Aghh!

Well, why don’t you try digging some old wells? I mean clicking some old folders in your hard drive to look for some content you have previously published or sold.

If you have a published an ebook before, why don’t you turn this into an audio version? Have somebody read the contents of your ebook and turn it into an MP3 file. If you feel that your voice is enjoyable to listen to, then there’s no need to go to elance.com or guru.com to outsource the reading of your content.

This time you have two versions of your content. The first one is the ebook and the second one is the MP3.

(Do you know that there are people who would prefer listening the contents of the book than read them?)

You then repackaged the product. Create a new ecover for the ebook and the MP3 file then sell the two versions.

You can even offer the MP3 file as a stand-alone product. Voila!

I’m talking about getting into and riding the fastest jet to becoming wealthy in the 21st Century. And that is digital information publishing. Or should I call it Digital Content Publishing?

We are fortunate to witness history’s most exciting times. And YOU now have the chance to get into this industry where the barriers to entry are exceptionally low and the growth potential is unthinkably high.

One area of Digital Content Publishing is marketing products based on ideas. We have special reports, ebooks, teleconferences, special reports, etc. as examples.

While selling hard and tangible goods such as computers, cameras, flowers and jewelry still dominate the scene, a big factor which contributed to its trade is the information about those products. That is publishing information about those hard goods.

Because it is extremely easy to start businesses based on these, I would say it is THE ultimate vehicle for becoming wealthy in the 21st century.

Think of the business we are in. Selling information. Selling special reports. Signing up as an affiliate. Publishing content and attracting advertisers.

Just this morning, Liz Tomey emailed me about a brand new package of resale rights products. I know Liz for sometime now and she has delivered tremendous value to her customers.

The present resale rights products available in the market are already so old and extinct, that it would even be a shame to give them away. So when I saw the package at http://www.resalerightsmachine.com I just had to check it out.

Unlike most of the products offered for resale, these products have never been released before. The brand new package is only limited to the first 300 people.

The products are in different niches. Consider this:

There’s a product about Alzheimer’s disease, super foods, outsourcing, digital photography, credit score, niche domination, etc.

If you are at a loss of what products to sell, try this package.

One secret that successful internet marketers have is being the first to sell the product. Don’t wait till the products have flooded the market.

With this brand new package from http://www.resalerightsmachine.com you have several chances to make money with many different products. The package includes 12 products, and an awesome bonus that gives you access to one of her live online workshops.

It’s an insane amount of high quality products for the low price you have to pay, and if you can’t at least make your money back with these products, you should probably just turn your computer off and find another way to make money!

So, if you’re ready for a change, and want to actually get products that can make you some money instead of cost you money, I highly recommend http://www.resalerightsmachine.com

I just don’t see how this deal could get any better!

I wouldn’t tell you to BUY THIS BRAND NEW PACKAGE, that’s your decision. Click here.
